The first and most basic tenet of Islam is to bow down to and worship one
and true God.Muslims don't bow down even to their parents (surely not out of
disrespect).To take some one else as God or equivalent is considered
shirk.It is written in Quran that Allah will forgive everything but
shirk.(Kind of simliar to one of the ten commandment "Thy Lord is Jealous
God...")
Islam as a religion does not recorgnise any nation as God or its
equivalent.There is a difference between Deshpremi and Deshbhakt.
