[nukkad] Seven year old boy keeps

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tip of the day: Shared joy is doubled; shared pain is halved.
Thus do we refute entropy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arya's description was saddening. The folowing caught my
attention:

"What does it say about men who would do this? Almost certainly
that they fear a one-on-one interaction with women, who, if she is
to give love, must first be recognized as a vital human vibrant
with vast possibilities."

COMMENTS

1. At the risk of hurting some vocal muslim friends, who might be
ever ready to protest against every perceived [though
non-existent] threat to Islam, I must state that as mentioned by
some other members, Muslim/Urdu/Arabic/persian literature makes
allusion or reference to this practice. Even without such mention
in literature, it is common community perception that male
homosexuality, especially with boys, is more common among muslims.
Arya's vivid account only confirms this.

2. With reference to the para reproduced above, I understand that
Arya propounds a possibility that man-woman love necessitates
realization of an equal relation between them. But man-woman
equality is not a basic tenet of Islam. This might explain why
muslim men may be more prone to choose a boy, rather than a woman,
or in addition to a woman, as an object of lust.

REQUEST :

If members must respond, let them respond at academic, civilized
manner, without viewing this as an affront either to them or to
their religion or culture. And, at any rate, keep politics,
saffronism and Pakistan out of it.

MC Gupta
