"...more peacefully.." does not mean complete peace, does it ?
As you yourself have said it is comparative in nature.

Meaning there is large fire here and there is small fire there.
But then not getting burnt is not an option.

I don't know how many resident Indians on nukkad have been out of the
country but when u go you will see for yourself.

But these incidents happen in our country too.See below article
and then the a**e licking by our Mumbai "Chatterati"

BANKER SORRY FOR RACIST INSULT

A senior American banker has apologised for racially insulting an Indian man
after a minor traffic accident.

Brian Brown allegedly called dentist Unmesh Khanvilkar a "bloody Indian" in
the June 15 incident.

The phrase is considered particularly insulting in India because it was used
during colonial times when Indians were addressed in a derogatory manner by
British officials.

Mr Brown's insult sparked protests across Bombay, with the Hindu nationalist
Bharatiya Janata Party staging a demonstration outside Citigroup's local
office.

He is the managing director of Citigroup subsidiary Salomon Smith Barney.

The words "brown racist" were painted in the bank's lobby and the exchange.

Mr Brown issued a statement saying: "I have respect for this great land of
India and me and my wife respect and adore Indian culture.
"If I have hurt your feelings, then I apologise and am sorry."

Mr Khanvilkar, 23, claims that Brown's car brushed against his near a Bombay
hotel.
The dentist said his vehicle was only slightly damaged but he tailed the
other car to confront the driver.

"I told him (Mr Brown), 'Sir, you banged my car',"
He said Mr Brown abused him, saying: "What are you talking about, you bloody
Indian?"

The pair then exchanged blows and were separated by hotel security guards.

Vinod Tawade, Bombay chief of the Bharatiya Janata Party, said the "colonial
history" behind the term "bloody Indian" angered people.
"If you want to come here and do business here, you can't say such words to
Indians," he said.

Chatterati comes to Brown's defence
   By: Sonali Velinker Kamat
   June 26, 2003

Most folks on the party circuit know Brian Brown, managing director of Smith
Barney, and of course everyone has heard of the fracas at The Oberoi on June
15.

That Sunday, Dr Unmesh Khanvilkar, a Dahisar-based dentist, had a run-in
with Brown because, according to Khanvilkar, the banker called him a “bloody
Indian”. The exchange was prompted by a minor car accident involving the
two.

While the doctor is unequivocal that Brown used racial slurs, the banker’s
society circuit companions refuse to believe it.

We ask six ‘Indians’, three of whom are close friends of Brown’s, to react
to the incident. Spot on or not, their response is unequivocal - Brown is
not racist.

AD Singh, restaurateur

Anybody being racist against Indians in India is totally unacceptable.
Racism is a huge button for me. There’s a lot of resentment against
high-flying, high-earning white guys who come to the Third World and treat
people badly.

Brian Brown, however, is not one of those. His wife is Asian and his
daughter’s name is Maya. He’s not a white guy who hangs out in a white
circuit.

If you tell me he was drunk and disorderly, that’s believable. That he is
racist is surprising, but I am not sure that it is true.

Kishin Mulchandani, restaurateur

I am utterly shocked. I have no clue as to why he has done something so
drastic.

He’s a good human being and he’s like family to me. This won’t affect my
relationship with him, because I think he must have been instigated to do
all this.

Sumeet Chopra, photographer

I had a long chat with Brian about this. He tells me he never said, “You
bloody Indian,” he said, “You bloody idiot,” so obviously that man did not
understand. Secondly, I don’t think a hairline scratch on a car would result
in this, nor should it make front-page news.

If it really was a question of racial slurs, the RSS says this and someone
else says that about communities all the time and that is put on the fourth
page of the paper.

Brian is one of the nicest people I know and we’ve been buddies for years.
This will not affect our friendship and I will vouch that he is very
pro-India.

Ash Chandler, comedian

I think this whole incident is preposterous. I have known the guy for four
years and I refuse to believe that he has said this. I have never heard him
use the word ‘bloody’ anything.

His dearest friends are Indians, ‘Bombay Brian’ is one of his email
addresses and he lives here and loves this place. I am not going to comment
on a traffic incident.

It doesn’t matter if a man has had alcohol or not, that will not change the
guy. I can tell you there’s no way in hell that Brian Brown could have made
racial slurs.

Achla Sachdev, choreographer

Brian has been really nice whenever I have interacted with him. I have been
out of town, so this is the first I have heard of the incident.

I find all this a little unbelievable. I’ve never heard him yell, nor have I
ever seen him obnoxiously behaved. But there are always dualities. We all
get angry.

Prahlad Kakar, adman

I’m very prickly about people with a superiority complex. If someone is rude
about Indians, I’ll eat them for breakfast.

Brian Brown parties, he drinks, he can be aggressive — and as a banker that
is what he’s paid to be. Is he rude?

Yes, he could be. But is he racist? No way. He’s married to a Hong
Kong-Chinese and he has tons of Indian friends.

What has happened with him is like me turning around and abusing a cop
because I’m very angry. Sometimes it happens. But off the cuff, I’d say the
man is not anti-Indian.
