[nukkad] Are Hindus trying to subjugate 150 million muslims?

Tip of the day: When angry, count to four; when very angry, swear.

Dear Dr. Kagalwala,
I presume you are either a medical doctor or a Ph.D. Your serious letter shows your high education and consequent calm approach.. I hereby respond in all seriousness. Shall be grateful for serious feedback from you and others.

1.	You state that: “Muslims feel that the
shila-daan , virtually Govt. sponsored , has taken
India a wee-bit closer to becoming a Hindu
Rashtra”. I view it as follows. Ram is the most revered god of Hindus. Ayodhya is believed to be his birth place. There was possibly a Hindu Mandir there earlier, which was demolished and a masjid built there instead. [If somebody is unable to digest that, even he can’t deny the fact that Babar, one of the earliest Mughal rulers, decided as one of his conscious and deliberate acts to build a masjid at the most revered place of Hindus, just to humiliate and subjugate them, though there was no earthly reason to build a masjid in Ayodhya where there was no muslim presence and the site had no special significance for them]. Hindus want to build a temple at the birth pace of Ram. They spend millions of their own money and carved stones for this purpose are got prepared. Government denies them permission to build temple pending court decision in cases that were filed more than half a century ago. Hindus are getting impatient. In the mean time, Godhra happens. Violent communal clashes are feared. In its wisdom, to avoid the clashes, a compromise is reached that a single piece of stone, consecrated after puja etc., will be placed at the proposed site of the temple, which is at the undisputed site, but this too is denied by the government. Finally, it is arranged that the sacred stone is received from the hands of the high priest by the officer in charge of the ayodhya Cell constituted by the PM about 2 years ago as a symbolic gesture. Now, Sir, are the facts given above agreed? If so, how does this indicate that the Indian government is ceasing to be a secular state and moving toward a Hindu state?
2.	You state that: “; many intellectuals also think
along the same lines...”. Those who incarcerated Socrates and Galileo and pooh-poohed Copernicus and Luis Pasteur and Edward Jenning, even Einstein, were all intellectuals. So much for the so called tribe of intellectuals. Since we ourselves are all intellectuals on this list, we do not have to lean on the clutches of so called intellectuals and bask in their reflected glory/infamy. Why not act as responsible active intellectuals ourselves and try to ask responsible questions and offer responsible answers on our own?
3.	The above is corroborated by your own statement reproduced below:
“My seven year old daughter asked me the other day why
Hindus were bad. I was shocked.Who told her this, I
asked, and she said, why, it's all over the T.V.And not
on the Urdu channel., or PTV, but on all the major
Indian news channels.”

This is what the great intellectuals are doing in India today: poisoning the minds of your 7 year old daughter! They are not intellectuals. They are either intelligent, cunning power manipulators trading in vote bank politics; or, they are gullible fools who miss the woods for the trees and, being well heeled, having cushy jobs or connections, may be even foreign, are themselves misguided and are, in the process, also misguiding the masses and the media. I refuse to be influenced by these so called intellectuals’ statements, as long as such statements do not stand intelligent and logical scrutiny by my own intellect, using objective criteria. I do not see why most people should not follow a similar approach, rather than have blind faith in the preachings of the so called great intellectuals.
4.	I am surprised by your statement: “How are you going to make 150 crore Muslims cower into submission, without any loss on YOUR side as well?” I did not expect it from you. Can you kindly list objectively the FACTS on the basis of which you state that 850 million are trying to subgugate 150 million? [I repeat, please restrict in your response to objective statements and facts, not hype and rhetoric.
5.	You state: “I ask you, have you any inkling what is the secret agenda of
VHP etc? It is NOTHING SHORT OF CONTINUING TO FOMENT
TROUBLE BETWEEN HINDUS AND MUSLIMS”.
May I ask you, in all seriousness, do you have access to some secret authentic document of VHP listing their secret agenda? Are you not imagining phantoms and then blaming them? You may be perfectly right. I am no lover of VHP or Bajrang dal. But if you are right, you must prove it; not by your imagination but by approved methods.
6.	Lastly, you state: “I plead to every nukkie to pause and read this message
again. And again. Then join me in condemning religion and caste politics, now and forever.”
I agree with you. It is just because I have read your message seriously that I am responding. Now it is your, and others’ turn to respond. I hope you will not fail me. Finally, none will disagree with you that we should condemn religion politics. I submit that such politics is being played by or with the help of those whom you have called intellectuals. Remember, there is something called evil genius. As regards caste in politics, I wrote a serious mail on the subject and, in view of its seriousness, I reposted it twice at fortnightly intervals, inviting responses. The mail contained four questions, a negative answer to which would indicate that caste is bad in politics. Few on the list responded. Those who did, all had affirmative answers. Not that I favour caste based politics. But, when serious questions are raised to ask why it is bad, all are mum! So much for the intelligentia!!
