Subhash bhai,

Whether you need a credit card or not is a personal choice. If you
have personal accounts with some stores ('khaataas' with grocery
stores or pharmacies), think of a credit card as a way to have an
account ('khaataa') with all the stores in the world. It allows you to
buy now and pay later. One of the risks is that some people forget the
'pay later' part and overspend. I know that's not the kind of risk you
are asking about but it is still a pretty big problem with these
cards.

As far as security goes, yes there are some risks but not to the card
holder. If your card is misplaced or lost, inform your credit card
issuer immediately. You won't have to pay for any fradulent charges on
your card. Also, if your card is not lost but if you see some
suspicious charges on your bill, inform the issuer and they will
usually waive those charges. Confirm both of these things with your
issuer to find out their policies in such situations.

But typically the biggest risk is the overspending part that I
mentioned earlier.
