Hello Dr.M.C., By default Windows does not show file extensions. So first enable it to show file extensions without which it is impossible to properly rename a file. This is why you are seeing file name Normal and not normal.dot. After this back up and delete these files. Move them to another location. Do not double click them. If still things do not work, you can see the MS-KB article I posted the link to in my previous mail.
