[nukkad] Re: khamoshi

Pravin bhai was so kind that when he met me in Pune, he told me that he had
very much liked a translation of a song from Khamoshi that I had posted on
the list earlier. [Those were the days when I was not in Hindi poetry and
was making a debut in English poetry, through the pathway of translating
famous Hindi movie songs into English. The purpose then was to let the
non-Hindi knowing nukkad friends, who very much liked some popular songs,
have the benefit of appreciating their meaning also.

I am extremely grateful to Ragini for bolstering up my morale in those days
by her apparently immortal words that my translations were so good that
sometimes they even surpassed the original. That comment from her encouraged
me to think of writing original poems in English. It was Dr. taher who
introduced me to writing.com. I am immensely indebted to both Ragini and
Taher. Also, I must add that for quite a long period, I was constantly
encouraged by anna in my poetical learning phase. I place on record,
publicly, my gratitude to all three of them.

Pravin bhai sent me a private mail 2 days ago, wherein he wrote:

may i remind you to send me the beautiful translation of the song from
khamoshi (woh shaam kuchh ajeeb thi)?
I searched my archives, and was able to locate it, but it was written in
2003. Five years later, I felt the need for many changes in it. I have
refined it now and posted on writing.com, along with original Hindi lyrics,
in both Hindi and English scripts.

It can be viewed at--

I thought it prudent to reply to Pravin's personal request on the list,
where, originally, the English version had been posted by me. I hope he
would not mind.
