The dual standards became necessary when hordes of worthless, vagabond
kindof western
tourists mainly the Hippies flocked India, who wanted to do ' around the
world in 8 dollars '.
To deter such criminals and VD carriers from occupying good hotels a
higher room rate was
slapped on all foreigners. From 70s and all through the 80s India had
boom tourist time from
Gulf Arabs who cared little for the extra price. It is simple. If you
can't spend, don't travel.
Give me one good reason what interest Govt. of India / people of
India may have if a low spender
tourist, be he/she from the West or East or South or North doesn't get to
see the Taj or
   Konark Temple in person ??
Go to a place if and only if you can afford to or else read Books and do
mental travel in your
head. Sai's mail smacks proverbial Indian kangaliyat. Bhikhari ko
sub-kucch sasteme, rather
preferably fookat mein chahiye. He is that kind of a south Indian who
will visit Taj mahal only
when his employer sends him on an official work to Agra.
