[nukkad] Mothers in law

[This message contained attachments that have been removed.]

WHAT IS THE REASON OF THE CONSTANT TUSSLE BETWEEN THE BRIDE AND THE
MOTHER-IN-LAW?

A woman often feels she needs male support. Father's support dwindles
because of laws of nature. Brother's support can't be relied upon. Husband
or lover's support can be tenuous. Mother banks heavily on son's support.
When he gets married, that support base seems to be slipping from her hands.
The bride is seen as the culprit. She seems to be the necessary evil. It is
inbuilt that a mother wants her son to be married, yet she does not want to
loosen her grip on the son. That is why.

WHY THERE IS COMPARATIVELY LESSER TUSSLE BETWEEN A HUSBAND AND THE
MOTHER-IN-LAW?

1. Because the mother in law never had a grip on the son in law, so the
question of his slipping out from the grip does not arise.

2. Husbands are often wise enough not to let the new mother in law develop a
grasp over them. [That is why it is traditional wisdom--never be a
ghar-javaaee (husband who chooses to shift residence to the girl's home
after marriage. In that case, a husband would have not one but TWO matrons
all the time--one crying, wailing and demanding attention and support, the
other aiming for his jugular!)].

3. Because she has an equally poweful adversary, the counterpart mother in
law. So, she dare not spread her tentacles too far.
