Hate the Sin, but Love the Sinner. Who said it?

1. Does not matter who said 2+2 = 4 if that is right. Does not matter who
said earth revolves round the sun, if it does revolve. Does not much matter
if a pearl of wisdom is given, regardless of who gave it. The wisdom of the
saying would be no lesser if the giver were a lowly man.

2. Jesus probably did not say so.

"I have heard a lot of people bandy about the phrase, "Hate the sin, but
love the sinner," as if it were some sort of dominical command. Did Jesus
ever command us to get all lathered up about sin? What is the scriptural
warrant for such a proposition? I am not aware of any place in scripture
where this is commended to us as a general rule of life or a method of
ministry".
