Latin is not the language of all Christians nor were the books of
Christianity in Latin to start with. Latin is the language of the Roman
Catholic church. Christ spoke Amharic. The Testament Old probably exists in
Aramaic, Hebrew and Arabic. Not Latin. The New testament is possibly in
Latin.
The Protestants/Orthodox/others  probably number as much as the Roman
Catholics and have various different languages for themselves.
Reform is what caused all of this changes in Christianity. As a new religion
they had to adapt to local customs and also to accommodate the wishes of
Kings as in England and since the Roman Catholic church was unbending it saw
the breaking away of sects.
Islam has also seen some breaking away, the Shia's, The Ahmadi's, the
Bahai'is and more, though I don't know if the Khoja's Bohri, Aga Khani's are
all subsects of Shia'ite Islam, all of this was perhaps in teh name of
reform.
But being amongs the newest religions, it must also change, and change it
will. Hinduism has been around teh longest and its tolerance and flexibility
shows why it has survived. Christianity has also modified its strict code.
Birth control is one example. Am sure tehre are more.
As to Arabic not being spoken outside Arabia, perhaps as a conversational
language yes, I agree. But it is definitely taught all over the world or at
least where there is a Muslim community. It is imperative that all muslims
learn to read teh Qura'an and since its in Arabic they have no optioon.
I am sure Rohit can vouch for this, if you need a form filled in Arabic any
typing center in teh middle east has a Kerlaite Muslim who types in Arabic
faster than any native Arab speaker.
