When there is mass unrest, revolution occurs. Revolution can be peaceful or
violent. The French Revolution was a violent one. An example of nonviolent
revolution was Gandhi's satyagrah, yeilding success in SA and India. A
recent example of peaceful revolution is the Mandal Commission report,
ratified by a 13 judge bench of the SC in Indra Sawhney case. Had there been
no mandalisation, the country was heading for civil strife. [It is not that
all is well with the Madalisation or its background or its implementation.
But, the broader contours should not be missed for minor angularities].

If Islam does not modernise itself, from within, at the behest of Muslim
leaders, the alternative path is revolution. Nobody can hold back change.
Change will come. It is the choice of the Islamic world whether they want a
peaceful or bloody change. Right now, the latter seems to be prevailing.
Examples are Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, with Benazir having become a
martyr to Jihad.
