Abyssinians from the Horn of Africa have always been known in Asia including
India as either
Hubsee or Ubsee. Trade in slaves took sailors not only to east coast of
Africa but much beyond to main land India, the islands of Andamans and
Nicobars and the far eastern seas all the way to Dutch Indies ( now
Indonesia ). Farther the source of slaves from the main centres in Arabia,
portugal, Spain, USA lesser the incentive for procurement.

Even today you can witness kind of bondage, if not wholesome slavery of the
past, being pracitsed in Gulf countries. An expatriate is supposed to
surrender his passport to his employers. If one wants to change job for a
better prospects one has to have NOC from his sponsor. In Saudi Arabia one
has to secure Exit Visa to leave the country etc. etc.

New times, new methods of enchainment.
