1. Https is far more expensive than http, because you need to pay the 
certifying authority e.g.  Verisign for verifying to the end-user of the 
web-site that it is indeed  that website it claims to be. Banks/Financial 
institutions are required to do this by law for online transactions. 

2. Https is slower than http because it uses encryption tunnel.
