RE: [nukkad] Tamilnadu Election 2001-Jaya (fwd)

Tip of the day: Remember, this "nukkad" is international.

Vishwas Patil wrote: Don't think about any one state in particular, think

so called SOCIALIST friends!!!!)

Like Mr. Vipul Vijay Lotke, I too was not aware of a sub-sect within Nukkad,
labeled SOCIALISTS. In any case, my answering your query doesn't mean that I
am a "SOCIALIST". Also let me clarify that I do not belong to the state of
Tamilnadu.

I don't think you are right. Highlighting problems of a particular area in
India is not the same as being parochial. Rejection of Jaya's nominations
is an important national event. The possibility of a sympathy wave
notwithstanding, the Returning Officer' decision is a blow for probity in
public life. It has brought into focus a big loophole in our system. She is
not eligible to be an MLA, but is still eligible to be CM! In Bihar it
happened by proxy; in TN it may happen directly!

And if TN people votes AIADMK to power, it will further weaken fight against
corruption nationally. Because every convicted leader will seek to be
absolved by the 'people's court' and convert our democracy to a mobocracy,
rule of law be damned. So from every angle, TN election is indeed a national
issue. Much more than Kerala, WB and Assam Elections.
