I just wanted to know whether or not credit card nr. is confidential.One is not supposed to reveal to anyone except the one who receives the payment.

Please refer to IT return form SARAL wherein IT dept. is asking to specify credit card nr.

Anyone in possession of credit card nr. can easily figure out where you buy your clothes, where you get your hair-cut, which massage parlour you visit
etc. etc.

Therefore, mentioning it on IT return form means that you are sharing your personal life with IT dept and that tantamounts to infringement on privacy of one's life.

Moreover, certain transactions can be carried out by just mentioning credit card nr. The integrity of babus working in IT dept. is well know. Babus working in IT dept. can indulge in fraudulent transactions just by stealing credit card nrs. What is the protection that IT dept. has evolved against such happenings?

Please enlighten me if my view is correct/incorrect.
