This may be hard to take, but what it means is that the newlyweds
should make a life of their own without interference from the
inlaws, notably the mother- and sisters-in-law.

The son may love his mother and family but the wife should not
be made to be a surrogate to them, and should be ensured a free
hold on her life with her husband.

It should not be that she is expected to serve the parents and family 
of the husband because that is the tradition.
