Re: [nukkad] Windows 2000 professional

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tip of the day: Read 'nukkad' on the web at:
         http://www.mumbai-central.com/nukkad/archive.html
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Not going into the history, windows has two basic platforms, based on
dost and NT. From 2k beyond, all the operating
systems from MS are based on NT (short for new technology, by the way).

2. Till the version 4, NT was known as such. Windows NT 5.0 is known as
Windows 2000.

3., 4. Probably, but doesn't seem likely. You could do a bit more of looking
around. These tools are very much present in Win2k professional.

5. As they say, you don't fix what ain't broke. I used office2k, and like
it. But, like all the newer versions of MS products, it is more intruding
than the previous versions. (Technically, memory is when you talk about
RAM--128 MB, 256 MB, and so on, and what you mentioned is called disk-space.
Also, if you have as much disk-space left as you do, performance would more
be a function of the memory. Again, the newer versions are a little slower.)

6. You could go to Symantec website. But, they would only have evaluation
versions for free download (you'll need to buy the permanent version). The
utility is not a part of any of the software you mention. Although, for your
needs, I don't see any requirement for such a software.

Pankaj Gupta

PS: Correct me if I am wrong.

PPS: Please see Doctor Gupta's posting for the set of questions.

PPPS: On second thoughts, these could have been in the script itself.
