Until Windows XP, Microsoft had two product lines of operating systems... one for the individal
(mainly home) user and another for professional users and network and server applications. The first
line was Windows 95,98 and ME and the other one was NT. NT is supposedly stabler and better than
Windows 95/98/ME with regards to the file system, security, etc.

The last Operating System in the NT series was Windows NT 4. Windows NT had two main flavours -
Windows NT Workstation and Windows NT Server. When NT 5 was finally released, it was branded as
Windows 2000. Windows 2000 Professional is equivalent to what would have been Windows NT 5
Workstation.

It must have that.

No clue on this

I think you should go for Office 97. Most of the additional features in 2000 would hardly be used
but the application will be heavier and will require more resources as compared to Office 97.

Norton Utilites is not a part of either of the two packages. Its a priced package. You will have to
buy it or download a trial version from the Symantec website at www.symantec.com or you may check
out some recent CDs of the common computer mags like PC Quest, Digit, etc. - they may carry a trial
version.
