and when the world struggled with numeric sets of 20 and 40
with no idea of nullity till even the 1600 s, indian philosophers
and thinkers already were adept with these numbers and the
concept which created it.

one such was a darling of a man, aryabhatha, who around 600 ad
is doing neat things like drawing, incredibly, square and cube roots!

the indian mind came up with null, which they called shunya, and
which later cultures adapted into zephyr, ziphar, to the contemporary
sifer in common use in arabic culture and tradition, and zero in
anglo-roman.

strikingly enough, the ancient egyptians mayans phoenicians and
persians had no clue to zero and struggled without the "nothing"
concept for centuries.

to this day when i have a need to write numerals in private writings
i do so by the way of ekkam dassak sou hajjar, with no comas to
separate the values.

and to this day i have the thrill at the simplicity of it.

arya.
