GIRL TALK

Girls talk by an entirely mysterious language where nothing
means what it should mean by everyday standards. She meets him
in Ravoli by the sea. They met ten days ago. She accosts him:

Why didn't you call?
I did! You were not at home.

Well so what, you should have called?
Like and talk to a ringing phone? I told you I did!

Stop shouting!
[Shouting] I am not shouting!!

I am not going to talk to you till you simmer down.
I simmer down!? I started this insane conversation?

O you are calling me insane?
[Bewildered] I never did! Are you crazy?

O so now I am crazy!
[Just stopping short of saying yes] No.

Don't patronize me! You just now said I am insane. And crazy!
[Walking into it] I did not call you insane. Just crazy.

She stares.
He stares back, visibly losing steam.

She sighs dramatically. Looks into the sunset.
He nibbles his lip, trying to unravel what went wrong.

She abruptly rises and says Let's go. I need to go home.
He says [near an insane state on his own right] Eat something?

She says, I am not hungry thank you.
He says [dumbo that he is] But this food will go waste!

She says, You eat it, it is not for crazy people.
He says [after a point everything he says is wrong] Damn!

She says, settling into the car, Drop me at Manisha's puleeze.
He says nothing. Drives. Reaches Manisha's place.

She gets out, says, Thank you. Very much.
He means to say something romantic to make up. Too late.

Inside, Manisha hands her tea and asks, "How is going?'.
She, says, Lovely. He is such a darling. And an Idiot.

Manisha, Idiot huh? So its serious?
She, smiling and content, Yup!

He, by the sea shore, mutters to the waves, What did I do wrong?

The waves oblige him, You have all your life to find out!
