Hi Nukkies,
Again, me and my bothered hyper mind.
Want your suggestions and comments.
If some of you recall, last year I had felt strongly about the sorry answers
by grown up and sensible looking people (since they it made to the show on
the basis of some intelligentia) on the nationally telecast Quiz program in
Unites States..."The Weakest Link".
Got mixed response from all on 'nukkad'.
Now I feel the same about a show I keep seeing on Indian TV on Sony. Sorry
to say I have strong opinions again but shall refrain for the time being.
It is this show "Baazi kiss kee", hosted so smartly by Aashutosh Rana.
Mostly I see young smart participants, looking affluent and doing well in
careers and studies. But for their faux pas....I begin to wonder what is
going wrong with our young people, who so well have all rounded education in
India.
Talking about two episodes I saw in April 2002.
Question put to a very pretty, young girl in twenties, wearing nice clothes,
studied well, smiling away to glory, having won a couple of prizes in the
earlier questions.
Question: Out of the 6 choices given which are search engines ( not the
exact words here )?
Google, Alta vista, Hotmail, netaddress, emac and Yahoo
Answer: (after 20 secs of deliberation the young girl answered)
Hotmail, netaddress and Yahoo....
grrrrrrrrrrr
How she managed to get yahoo correct is anybody's guess. And mind you, this
Question was not in the primary rounds, it was towards a winning position..
Another episode on a different day..
Question: again the profile of the particapant is similar.
Who, out of the six choices, is the creator of Hotmail?
Bill Gates, Sam Pitroda, Sabeer Bhatia, Premji, Dewang Mehta and sorry, the
last name i am forgetting.
Answer: first, impromtu, the answer was ...Bill Gates.
Rana, asked, so should i block it for you, to which our young smart
participant had a change of mind and decided on Dewang Mehta...
...GGGrrrrrr
May be the NASSCOM President Dewang was on her mind because of his being in
news in near past for his untimely death....(my funny guess).
What do you all have to say?
My main objection being the questions were addressed to the young
generation, not put to the older generation who we can say perhaps are not
expected to be as savvy in the computer world as the youngsters are supposed
to be.
And please, do not come up with bright ideas like ...girls/women are capable
of such wonders....
cause there have been equally similar answers by boys/men on the same show.
But they were of different genre.
I have so much to say here, but as i said, I shall wait for your replies,
cause some of you can recall my views and opinions.
in search of answers
