THEY MET

They looked at each other and were hooked.
Gone, sunk, lost, foundered, inebriated.

He never felt this pull before.
She never had this flutter in her heart.

The afternoon wore on.
People came in went out of the Coffee Shoppe in slow motion.

He was attracted by her lip, which had a dimple either side.
She stared at him shameless, struck by what she could not tell.

He could see her lips move and no sound came out.
She watched his hands, strong, form, but soft.

She wore a crazy halter half shirt and jeans.
He was in faded khakis, soft crimson silk shirt.

His mouth parched and he felt lost. This was Love.
Her stomach harbored butterflies. This was Love.

Both wanted to reach out and touch.
Problem was both were at separate tables with someone else.

There is a movement. She rises!
His heart sinks. Who is she, will I see her again?

She collects her things. The man helps her. Black soul!
Get up idiot! Go ask her! She is walking away!

She turns and is coming towards him.
He feels like an 8 years old, cold hands, staring.

He cant rise, talk, move. Frozen as ice. A block of wood.
She turns! O dear God, she is coming towards me!!!

She smiles, puts something in his hand, says something.
And is GONE!

After an eternity, he realizes that he has no idea what she said.
O damn she gave a phone number or something! Idiot!

Then he looked at the little note written on a paper tissue.

"Tomorrow. At 2 noon. You buy. Latte."

He broke out in a sob and felt his heart break.

He did not know it, but this was an ancient Sign.

Of irrevocable, fatal, final, painful Love.

Arya.
