COMPOSITE RESPONSES
ONE
Subject: Kapil’s query about Saket Ram
Ref: “Does anyone here know who was Saket Ram?”
Ram was born in Saket, also known as Ayodhya. Saket ram may be the name of the movie, which might as well be “Ram of Saket”, like, Jesus of Nazareth.

Subject: Capital letter mail
Ref: Max Tough’s recent mails
Dear Max,
Let me assure you that small is still beautiful. And less intimidating, more attractive. As such, it is more likely to be read before being deleted. Even otherwise, it is conventional preaching that mails should not be in all caps.

THREE
Subject: Sonia as PM
Ref: Recent mails
1. If people vote freely and the largest party chooses Sonia as their leader to be the PM. In that case, the will of the majority has to be respected, though others may disagree.
2. Sonia’s being PM is no ordinary matter. In moral fairness, the party should announce before elections that if it wins, Sonia will be their candidate for PM. If still the party wins and makes Sonia the PM, a democratic society must accept it gracefully. But that does not mean that election petitions and other PIL etc. against her should not be filed or that the opposition should not try all legal and parliamentary and political means to oust her. After all, Vajpayee was PM for only 13 days. Her becoming PM on day one does not mean she would be PM on day 100 or even day 10 also.
3. The above approach embodies the true spirit of parliamentary democracy. It is presumed that once her candidature as PM is announced before the elections, all opposition parties will launch massive anti-sonia campaign in the public at all India level and will, even otherwise, try all tricks in the trade to even deny her a seat in the parliament. If she wins in spite of all that, kudos to her and to her party and to Indian democracy and the Indian spirit of tolerance and assimilation, rather than isolation.
4. Having said that, let me open my own cards. I will definitely not vote for a person who is not natural born Indian citizen to be the PM of India. But if my countrymen elect her, I will not deny them the right to do so, while, at the same time, trying my best to undo the effect of what they have done by all legal means.

FOUR
Subject: Kisses
Ref: “Arya’s woes at finding only a total of 28 kisses described by 400 nukkies including 7 “legitimate women”, in his own words.
1. I wish I had the time and taste, particularly at the age in question, corresponding to that of Arya’s. May the elixir of youth never dry in him.
2. If he has not done so already, though he has been a wide and long traveller, I strongly recommend that he visits Khajuraho. He will then have reason enough to launch several more surveys of even a more intimate variety.
3. Though 28 is by no means a meagre number for me, let me suggest to Arya that the number might have multiplied manifold if he had in his sample a few “illegitimate women” also, whatever that may mean.
4. I am sure what Arya has listed is only the tip of the iceberg. Kisses are of two kinds: describable and indescribable [at least, on Nukkad]. If 28 is 10%, the full stock might be presumed to be 280. Not a bad show, coming from the mere trio [not triangle] of three: Arya, Asha and Tahir.
5. As for myself, the best and the most cherished and the most valuable kiss is that what might, in a way, be called a tongue kiss, of a variety manifest in the poet’s words as follows:
Aiye mere pyaare watan,
Aiye mere bichhare chaman,
Tujh pe dil kurbaan.
Tere daaman se jo aayen,
Un hawaaon ko salaam;
Choom loon mein us jubaan ko,
Jis pe aaye tera naam.
Sab se pyaari subah teri,
Sab se rangeen teri shaam;
Tujh pe dil kurbaan.
