Deepak,

First off, thanks for letting me know about the email you recd. from
my address.

You are right about it being sent by a virus. The twist here is that
it was not sent from my PC but from someone else's infected PC.
I am quite sure that a list member's PC is infected with the Klez virus.

Klez is a particularly nasty worm since it not only sends itself to
everyone in the victims's address book but it also uses a random
email address from the address book or the Inbox as the 'From' address
for the email message. So the virus-laden emails seem to come from
someone else making the identification of the infected person nearly
impossible.

These news articles explain the problem that this virus has been causing:
http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,1282,52055,00.html
http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,1282,52174,00.html

I have been receiving many complaints from people who have been
receiving these emails from my address as well as from other
mumbai-central.com email addresses. Unfortunately, there is nothing
I can do.

Please, please read all the details about Klez at:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.klez.h@mm.html

And if you have the slightest doubt that your PC is infected,
take the necessary steps to remove the virus from your PC. You
will do a great services to everyone you have ever exchanged email
with.

I apologise for the hassle but unless all of us make sure
that our PCs are clean, these emails will continue to plague
us.

- 'shal
