[nukkad] Sonia Gandhi-Right to Vote-Democracy and Indianess

Dear All,

Thanks for your comments.

So many people have been saying so many things: some
saying Sonia must be accepted as the PM if she wins,
and others saying no-way.

Some have come up with real good responses and others
with naive ones. I am surprised to know that some
people are so weak that they are willing to accept
anyone - even a foreigner - to escape the claws of
the present govternment/leaders.

Some have shown great respect for the so-called
Parliamentarian rules: "if my people elect her, I will
accept." I'd like to quote Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia: "One
who observes rules within the Paliament when the
country is going to dogs is a fool." [This is the best
I can translate].

I have had someone asking me "what is Indian blood?" -
I don't think there is a need for me to suggest what
it is. Its for you to know. And I've had someone say,
and I quote: "I haven't bothered with the Southern
state's > stars because I believe the electorate there
is > already certifiably crazy having elected N T Rama
> Rao, M G Ramachandran, J Jayalalitha as CMs".

The electorate there isn't crazy as you say, and it
really doesn't need your certification. Who do you
think NTR, MGR were? NTR got defeated, in the '80s, by
a novice in the Telangana region. NTR was pro-poor,
and if you think he wasn't a great politician: I
really can't discuss any further. Jayalalitha is loved
by people; she works for people. MGR was a legendary
politician. Please work on the facts before writing
crap. At least in context with NTR.

Now there has been a hue and cry over democracy.
Please realise that democracy is the most undemocratic
mode. Let me say, for example, there are 3 candidates
[1, 2, and3] fighting an election and there are 100
votes.
Candidate 1 gets 30 votes; Candidate 2 gets 32 votes;
and Candidate 3 gets 38 votes. Democratically,
Candidate 3 has won with a whopping majority of 6 and
8 votes - he has got 38 votes favouring him. Do you
see that 62 people have voted against him, and he will
be ruling over 100 people - against the wishes of the
majority 62 people. Democracy is a strange paradox.

However, I am not against democracy, but, neverthelss,
I strongly condemn the liberty it brings with it. I
strongly feel that the constitution needs a review,
and the rules need to be changed.

Sonia Maino is not Indian.

Kapil
