Re: [nukkad] Vadodara

Dr. Gupta, I think you act and write like a lawyer. Call a spade a
spade like Rohit does. We may not agree with him but there is hardly
much padding and huffing and hawing with Rohit. You either love him or
love to hate him. But at least he is consistent and frrank.

Yesterday there was a "Big Fight" on NDTV with vadodra and the Gujrat
government in the dock.
Of all teh people that were on there I felt Teesta Setalvad and BP
Singhal a former DG Police mad absolute asses of themselves.

There was one sane face Harsh Mandera(?). Even Maxwell Pereira went of
on a communal angle talking about Christian persecution.
Teesta was ranting and raving about the Dargha being a heriitage
monument, until her bluff was called by a former Gujrat minister. She
had no answer nor did she admit she was wrong. Its fine to blame and
accuse people but when you get your facts wrong, accept it. Sadly none
of our activists or politicians do that.
BP SInghal I think has reached the stage of comedy relief for many.
His claim left me absolutely cold. He said that there was no communal
rioting all over Gujrat only in about 30% of Gujrat and that was not
alarming! Where did this guy serve as a cop I wonder. Could possibly
have been Bihar given its state of affairs today.

To answer Anna, It would have been fine if the court orders were
carried out to the letter of the law. However when the Dargha was
being demolished there were members of teh VHP / BJP posturing in and
around and making threatening sounds/slogans. They may have retaliated
to teh Muslim reaction but they were not innocent either. Again this
is hearsay I do not know this for a fact.
Sadly the one person who lost his life in teh rioting that followed
was burnt alive. Surely no one deserves that fate.
Ravi
