I do not know about the price in Pakistan, but Malaysia is a fairly large producer of oil, with huge reserves and therefore do not have to import crude. Subsequently i found this http://pakistantimes.net/2005/02/04/editorial.htm quote "THE Oil Companies Advisory Committee has raised prices of petrol by Rs 2 per litre bringing it to Rs 42.39 per litre," this price is over a year ago so obviously whoever the original author of that mail is/was bullshitting. One of the reasons for a high price is to keep consumption low, but that appears to be a defeated purpose. I know of one company in South India, owned by two NRI's and basd out of London, they get paid Brent crude prices for delivery to Madras Refineries in Chennai, so although the crude is Indian, the prices are foreign.
