In the normal circumstances, yes I agree its incorrect to compare in
rupees. But we are talking of a product that has a uniform price
across teh world in USD, i.e. crude oil.
The one variant in the process is the cost of labour to refine it. Of
course tehre are other factors like the cost of doing it safely as
against unsafe industrial practice in India.
However Dr TV if you consider teh global brands they tend to cost as
much in India as they do elsewhere. One example that springs to mind
is the price of a Subway sandwich. In Bombay I last paid 120 for a
sandwich which costs about the sme here in Qatar!
