Re: [nukkad] RELIGION IS TOO IMPORTANT TO BE IGNORED

List members often seem to wonder why I cannot disabuse myself of religion.
said Dr. MCG
However you seem to be unable to disabuse yourself only when it concerns
Islam or Pakistan and of course the USA.
That was why I posted the item on the Dalit child. Just to show you that we
have enough abuse in our own backyard.
Malayalam has a saying that goes, do not pick your teeth it will stink.
(Venu, I agree it isn't accurate).
So Dr MCG remember that pointing a finger at our neighbours has four fingers
pointing back at you.
In an earlier mail you attacked Sharia justice in the case of Mukhtarin Mai
and when I pointed out that the verdict was by a tribal court you very
quickly backtracked.
Again in this instance it is a tribal court. Sharia justice is harsh, but to
claim its unfair i think is a point of view. In countries like Qatar, in the
event of a crime unless you are a Muslim you are not tried by Sharia law.
Not even for Blasphemy.
The only country that applies Sharia uniformly in modern world is Saudi
Arabia. And if you go there of your own accord, you have no "leg to stand
on" in the event of a crime you may commit or be framed for.
Crimes against the underprivileged in India, read minorities in Pakistan are
common and will not disappear overnight. As Rohit says, we can be glad they
are not commonplace / everyday occurrences. But happen they do and for that
we must hang our heads in shame not distract the world by playing up the
rest of the worlds crimes against humanity.
If this seems like a personal attack, I am afraid i is. There comes a time
when your duplicity is unbearable.
Ravi

A student who changes the course of history is probably taking an exam.
