Wasted

Conceived in lust
In the thump and bump of the night
In heated, panting, ranting blight.

Within bloated belly, with bloodied jelly
He quivers, craving a breath of air
Which simply isn't there.

Those who walk the earth
In pride and purpose and grace
Once lived with head cushioned by
A pillow of urine and offal.

Those who won't eat from the Outcast
Once drank frank blood gouged
 From the living maternal flank.

Now days are lost to rage and raving
Nights to spiritual sexual craving.

They bow and scrape and offer incense
To gods with not the least sense.

Always begging, 'O succor please cede'
While robbing the widow, and the orphan bleed.

Seeking does not last forever
Finding comes of a sudden

And Sleep abides for ever.
