suspended disbelief, a nice statement
Hi Rajababu,
This is a stock term, originally introduced by the poet Coleridge, that is
generally used with regards to movies or literary works. Coleridge used the
words "willing suspension of disbelief" to explain our nature to believe
(temporarily) events or characters to be able to appreciate artistic works.
A good example of this can be found in the movie Dor, directed by Nagesh
Kukunoor, where you'll find Shreyas Talpade playing a role - known as a
deus-ex-machina, an improbable or contrived character to help the plot. As the
audience, you believe that such a character is possible, so you can continue
with the rest of the story.
