Public display of ones ignorance is so painful to the observer. No physician in 
his right mind would prescribe Reserpine (extract of Rauwolfia serpentina) to 
treat High blood pressure today. It had drastic psychological side effects and 
has been now replaced by blood-pressure-lowering drugs that lack such adverse 
effects. Perhaps a lawyer might even take a physician to court of his patient 
got side effects if reserpine was prescribed.

That is why one should not keep defending blindly as one is very likely to 
shoot oneself in the foot in the process.
