Hi guys,

Please do visit the following url :

Everybody knows what bhajans on mumbai trains are like. They occupy any one
compartment in a nine bogie and sing devotional songs. This is something
which I can remember since the days I started travelling in locals.
Now suddenly this commissioner has come down and arrested people who sing
devotional songs on trains. Do we not have the right to practise our
religion in our own country. Does Mr Mushrif object to the namaz conducted
on the roads causing disruption to everyday traffic. If muslims can attack
Hindus singing bhajans on trains, why should Hindus keep quiet when namaz is
read on the roads.
I feel a strong protest has to be raised against this action. If we are not
allowed to practise our own religion in our country, where do we do it? In
Pakistan?
If we have a lenient attitude towards Muslims when they read Namaz, a
reciprocal attitude is expected of them towards our religion. We are
tolerant, but that should not be construed as a weakness to be exploited
upon.
I ask fellow nukkadites to forward this to people who matter, people who can
take action against such fundamentalist policies within the country. If we
keep quiet about this, a long tradition of religious practise shall simply
die in this country. Tomorrow he may be bold enough to suggest no burning of
crackers during Diwali or no breaking of dahi-hundi or no ganpati pandals as
it may cause a communal flare up. This kind of act has to be nipped in the
bud or it may spread as an evil that shall eradicate the very root of one of
the oldest religions in the world.

regards

Mahesh S
