Dear Praveen and Shoukath,

After the first nuclear blast, conducted by Indian scientists in Pokhran (in
1972 ?) , the person in Charge of the site of the blast rang to the
government ( then Prime Minister Mrs Indira gandhi ) and said "Buddha is
laughing".

It was a code-phrase decided between them to convey that the
experiment has been successful.

It highlights the irony that  the messanger of peace (Buddha) was
thaught as happy over such destructive a power unleashed.

The government said that it only highlights the peaceful intentions of India
in the usage of such destructive a power.
