 Well, crux of a thread of debate related to this is that
 catholicism is the teachings of jesus as interpreted by Paul, the disciple
 and there is enough evidence to suggest that Paul was from a rural
 background
 and did not share some of the openness of Jesus, for example, with regard
to
 women.

 Paul's opinions about Mary Magdalene, who is the wife of Jesus show this.

 Also, in reponse to MN's: Jesus was never buried nor did he ever die.He was
 raised to heavens alive.,
 there is enough evidence to contradict the resurrection. Of course, it is
 still debated.

 Also,
 Jesus belonged to the underground Nazarene movement. Christian was actually
 originally a derogatory term.

 Several books have been written on this.

 lost years of jesus
