Kopinesh,
Very interesting questions and ones that can lead to some very
interesting discussion.
The biggest problem with such important (and fascinating) queries is
that there is no way to get a "true" answer. Suppose I (or someone
with a series of letters behind their name, a famous geneticist or some
such) tell you "Sure, man was meant to be polygamous. Go forth and
enjoy!" Since this reply agrees with your thoughts on the subject, you
might be inclined to consider it the truth.
But what is the validity of such an answer? What is stopping someone else
from proclaiming the exact opposite as the truth?
The problem with the current state of science is that we are still
not able to know for sure what things are part of us and what things
are influences. The "nature/nurture" debate has been going on for
years and shows no signs of abating.
I think the beat way to handle such questions (or decisions), is to
consider yourself a part of society but one who is not bound by *all* of
its rules. If you are certain that human beings were supposed to be
polygamous (and polyandrous), go ahead and practice your belief. Just
be careful of the law.
I know this does not answer your questions but I just wanted to show
the futility of engaging in such a discussion. However, reality has
never stopped me and I would like to know why you think monogamy
is an artificial constraint.

P.S. This question again underscores the need for some immortal, omniscient
beings. If they were around to answer this question (and a whole bunch
of other intractable ones that I have), life would be much easier.
