Are human beings programmed to be monogamous, or is it constraint enforced by
Society?

Definitely, its something that each individual is programmed with and not
something which holds good for everybody. I beleive in the fact that there is
a perfect match for every individual in whole wide world which further injects
monogamy deep into the personality of the individual. Again i beleive its
something which is particular to each individual and cannot be generalized
into human species as a whole.
Another viewpoint could be monogamy is one of the earliest traits of
civilization in mankind which brought individuals together and hence the
family system.
