I don't know about the first part of people being fool or not, but

NOTHING has happened to Jayalalitha. In all constituencies where AIADMK 
(jayalalitha's party) alliance lost, the winning margin is quite less 
(except for Chennai). Her alliance lost 26 places out of 40. But, in more 
than 10 (out of these 26) places the margin is less than 10,000. In nearly 
10 (out of these 26) places the margin is less than 25,000.

Her alliance has got more votes than HER opposition in nearly 100 assembly 
segments out of 234.

Her vote percentage is just a few percentage below DMK/BJP alliance.
