Hi all,

     It is precisely this mentality which is affecting our nation badly. There
is no ther democratic country which does not have uniform civil code. Only, we
Indians have it. At the time we got our independence, the politicians were very
immature in running a democratic country. And the constitution designed and
implemented had a lot of drawbacks. And that was ok at that time because we were
inexperienced in all these matters. But the constitution should have been
amended with time. And that has never happened. Even though we have a fairly
mature democracy, we lack in many aspects.
     People cry over why this religion, this cast does not have representation
in this.. in that... When will we realize that   performance, capability,
knowledge and capacity, these are the qualifying factors for any job or post?
And this reservation thing is taking India towards instability and incompetence.
     People cry that "The backward class was always a victim of racism and never
had the opportunity to get educated and hold responsible posts.". I agree to
this partly. But I think now we are a victim of reverse racism. I fail to
believe that after almost 30-40 years of reservation system, the so called
"BACKWARD CLASS" is still not liberated. 30-40 years mean at least 2-3
generations.
     It gives me immense pain to see an average student from open category with
90% marks in PCM does not get admission in any decent college and his friend
coming from a BACKWARD CLASS gets admission to any A grade government
engineering  college with 80-85%. And the conparisn in the economic backgrounds
of these two students does not matter. A poor open class student with 90% marks
cant get admission in a government college and cant afford private college. His
career and confidence dies then and there. Especially after being witness to the
admission of his BACKWARD friend who comes from a better off family, happily
getting admission where he wants, despite being less talented.
     It's time to stop this nonsense and cut down the reservation and base the
reservation system on the students economic background.
     And frankly speaking there should be no reservation anywhere else apart
from the education system.
     I have seen numerous pathetic examples of this reservation system. And it
goes from the jobs of air hostesses to the president.
     Till we dont enforce a uniform civil code and remove this reservation
system, the dream of becoming a developing nation will remain a dream.
