Ravi/ Nukkies,
Talent and playing experience does matter in coaching,
foreign coaches do not know the domestic playing
conditions, and the domestic structure thru which our
cricketers come up. They might try to implement
A strategy which is well suited for some other playing
conditions.
Moreover if regionalism is causing any problems then
solution lies in not only getting a foreign coach but
importing 16 foreign players who have similar
ethnicity, etc,etc.
Actually I believe this is not correct as in the past
50 yrs or so, indian team with palyers and coaches
from different regions been playing as a team and have
been successful at international level and in all
countries as well as home, all of a sudden this mad
rush for a foreign coach is not understandable, it
appears as if people in the admin side of cricket are
running out of ideas and losing confidence in their
own system and players.
Moreover coach is like a parent to the team, if it is
from the home country then players find it easy to
discuss their technical as well as personal problems,
the relationship is healthier.
It’s a real ‘SHAME’ that the board can’t find even a
single cricketer from India capable of coaching the
Indian cricket team. This only shows the confidence
level of the administrators in the game and their own
players.
