I would have agreed with your comments that these statements are irresponsible.

I have it on second hand authority (as you guess rightly - the one that had the fling was not me - but my close friend since the 11th Std - still my friend) that these things happened in Guru Nanak Khalsa College in the years 1977 - 1982 (the years when I studied there).

These girls were perfectly normal middle-class girls just wanting to have a bit of fun while making some pocket money. My friend actually had his fling for free - but the girl did confess that she took money from most others. And she also said that there were other girls that were equally interested.

Bookworm that I was - I never saw any of these things until all such opportunities were lost. (Thank God).

If such were the state of affairs during MY youth - I shudder to think what is happening these days. I have talked to my nephews about it - and they have quite matter-of-factly said that such happenings are dime-a-dozen and (so they say) they have nothing to do with it.
