Hi Ullas and all Nukkies,

I saw the mail with the subject 'US Universities queries -Please read'. ('This is
reply to so many nukkies asking for US education related queries.)

I don't know who has generated such queries, but it is a good one. Queries like
"give me any 3 good courses to register" is not a bad one for FOB.  FOB will feel
this queries are silly only they become as non-FOB.

I also agree the Ullas view and content, but the view point may be different. If
you look this from the point of just securing a job in US ... ( Not the only aim
to get a great BS or MS from big university from US)

For example, I am working in HIB, and my wife is not working and taking care of
our daughter of age 7 in Virginia. We came to US 18 months back.  Now she wanted
to go for a work in an office, because she is alone most of the time.  But the
problem is what kind of job that she can start.  She has a bachelors degree in
chemistry from India and she likes Chemistry.  Even I got confused what kind of
area she can look, dose she need more studies on any specific field to get a good
job (other than Hi-tech area ).  Is it really a study needed for a good job here
for an alien, I see most of the American are going to jobs before their actual
graduation ( Degree), but they are native here.

If study is the one solution means, here the university systems seems complicated
on first look, like private( mostly costly), Government aided, Community, part
time - full time, full course - part course, funded or self financed  etc.

We can throw some starting points, instead asking the individual to start from the
scratch. It is like those who are in Computer industry, selecting an Page setup
menu from 'Word' package and modify Margins is a very silly problem, not for new
comers.

>From a raw mind, finding a universities from the internet not so difficult, but
how will one know about the university and its standard, this may be silly those
who have spent 3 to 4 years in education in US, not for all.  ( assume some
American came to India for study and found REC/RIT, or Madras/Ranchi university
through internet, how will he know the standard, unless he asks some body, that
some body is our great Nukkies, we should suggest some more universities and
institutes like IIT, IISC BITS, Bharathir,Mysore etc )

Those of you had degrees here in US, will know something more than others, You are
the masters now,  you can teach (If you have time ) How one can fix their
criteria, what are the basic advantages and disadvantages for such criteria?,  Why
one has to know the percentage of the international students?, which area to go,
NY, EAST US, California, what is the major difference/advantage?
What are the various options for getting the Financial Aid? ( Here the data show
that Financial Aids are not fully utilized..! ).

These may need more time to consolidate, but who ever knows some part and ready
share with Nukkies will generate a full book on US studies for aliens ( may be
there are some sites, I don't know.. Any one knows? ).

I know that it need hard work, but where can we start, Please teach fishing
instead of giving Fish for hungry , but after making them to know that what kind
of fishing lesson will solve their own unique problem.

Hope every body knows that we can find the best deal for the car insurance in US
by getting various quotes, but we should fix our criteria like deductibles,
Collusion and bodily injured insurance value, but how will know the value of these
things!!, what will the insurance people will help when we got into a major
accident!!...  Almost same problem as selecting a study Program in US.  ( In US
Most of them are like this, if you want a higher net worh value for your money
spent !! )
