[nukkad] Place I adored...{lenghty one}

Hi Gang,

The journey was tiring but was fun too. I have loved
this place and it’s been my family’s favorite vacation
spot. Warm rays of Sun entering into the room
stealthily, not to wake me. Should the Sun rise, I
wondered? Let me sleep, let me sleep, I begged. But
hey, I am on vacation! No tensions, no need to race
with time, no morning-blues, just have fun. The very
thought made me active and I sprung out of the bed.
What a waste to just lie down!
My lazy brother was asleep floating in his
dreams. My parents were asleep too. Vacation means
sleep? Now, what am I going to do? It was five in the
morning. I decided to go for a walk. As I stepped out
of the room, it seemed as though I was among the
clouds. Mist everywhere! I walked into the sheets of
mist, breathing the fresh air. Exhaling the air never
seemed so much fun, it looked as though I was smoking!
I tried to get those rings that are usually formed by
the smoke from cigarettes. But could not. Very sad, I
know. (Excuse me, phone call…be back with you…)
The lovely, star shaped, small, brightly colored
flowers grew along the roadside. There were white,
shades of red, and purple lily flowers too. Bright
marigolds looked like miniature Sun, and smiled at me.
The clear dews on the leaves, on the flowers, on the
railings, and literally on everything looked like
diamonds, glittering due to the rays of the Sun. The
thrush sang a sweet note and others joined too.
In front of the hotel is the racecourse. I adore
horses! A brown Arabian beauty with white colored
hoofs or a black beauty with shining coat are my
favorite. Every morning the horses are exercised.
Majestically they walk one after the other to display
their pose and perfection. With a cup of strong, hot
coffee in my hand, I watch them, completely lost.
(Ring ring…be back…! I hate to be disturbed at this
hour. Anyway, where was I?) The handsome horses
snorted once in a while and the sound of their hoofs
hitting the ground was magically.
I moved down the street, humming some of my
favorite tunes and chewing a bubble gum to avoid my
jaws from shivering. My master would always say that
early mornings were the best to practice music. I
could not risk singing, did not want the horses to
gallop away! There are many spots that I like. But the
best one is around the lake. No, not that part of the
lake that’s usually open to public. But that part of
the lake that is completely hidden from the eyes of
tourists. Those tall trees, well-spaced, and standing
to support the sky from falling down to earth. One can
encounter the regular, native joggers around this area
or people from film industry shooting for a movie.
After the shooting, they dirty the place and never
bother to clean it.
This part of the lake is clean. I enjoy sitting on
the bank and watching the water. Throw a small pebble
into the lake and watch the ripples being formed. I
read somewhere – imagine the pond to be infinite and
then what would the ripples look like? Our lives are
like the calm lake. But something happens, just like a
pebble thrown into the lake, and problems ripple to
destroy that calmness. I enjoy watching a leaf slide
gently on the surface of water.
On my way back, I usually take the route that
leads into the main street and railway station. I
enjoy listening to the chirps of native people. By
now, the whole city is awake. Hey, I did not wake them
up! Not to forget the famous shop that sells
mouth-watering, delicious, juicy, homemade chocolates.
(I want a chocolate, now...psst, you want some? I have
a some in the freezer.)
How come no one asked me about Tea? This place is
famous for tea plantations. Hills covered with tea and
tea and more tea plantations. I guess it’s time for me
to visit this place. It’s lost all the charm it had
few years back. It’s so dirty, natives have literally
made it a place to earn money, and tourists have
spoilt the beauty. It was heaven few decades back. But
now, I guess this is how hell might be!
Some other night when the whole world is asleep, I
shall take you into the green-green heaven, the
Western Ghats. I have a book to read. Leaving you
with…'I wanna wake up with you'…

Sweet dreams and sleep safe!
Asha
