Thanx Rediff, Hope
Abhijit understands your language more and better than mine ! Jargons used
to describe political actions have varied from time to time. The British
always charged
revolutionaries of the likes of Savarkar, Dhingra etc.with premeditated
murder, scheming to topple the government and sedition from the Empire,
crime against Crown etc. Although Gandhiji inflicted the haviest damage to
the British rule than these revolutionaries, he was never implicated with
these charges, because in his actions there was no room for violence. The
word being used as Terrorism is post world war phenomenon and has by today
assumed a broader and an extended meaning to practically all forms of
violence, no matter committed to achieve whatever ends. This suggests that
the world polity as of todate stands at a clear devide. One side abhorring
violence at all costs and the intent to pursue at all costs. Gandhiji's
singular contribution to the opinion formers of this world belonging to the
first group has been a lion's share.
