According to news reports, US plans to attack Afghanistan, dislodge Taliban
and install former King Zahir Shah as the ruler. US apparently think that
they have a right to decide who should rule which country.

They are doing this on mere suspicion that Osama Bin Laden 'may' be the
brain behind the attack on WTC Pentagon. India has proof that terrorists in
Kashmir are Pak and Afghan Nationals armed and funded by Pakistan
Government. Yet we don't resort to 'hot pursuit' of terrorists into Pakistan
or air strikes on training camps or offices of Lashkar-e-Toiba or their
likes. If India offers full cooperation to USA to attack Afghanistan,
shouldn't we get a reciprocal cooperation in conducting hot pursuit or air
strikes at LeT training camps in Pak?

Since US needs Pakistan's cooperation more than India's, India is unlikely
to be successful in such a bargain. But we should assert that if US has a
right to attack Afghanistan, India has a much stronger case for bombing out
terrorist training camps in Pakistan. Even if we don't do it, such an
assertion may focus international attention on Pakistan's role in terrorism.

The extent of Pakistan's 'cooperation' with US is yet to be seen.
Considering the support Taliban enjoys among Pakistani people and their
Army, Musharaff may not find it easy to allow US to operate fighter jets
from Pakistani soil. He may perhaps allow the use of Pak airspace (remember
that they denied even this to Mr. Clinton for the 1998 attack on Osama).
Turkmenistan will look for Russia's approval for anything they do. In such a
scenario, US may pressurize India to use its airbases for the attack. India
should refuse permission not only because of the immorality of US action but
also because it did not get any cooperation from US for its efforts to rein
in Pakistan from sponsoring terrorism in the past. We should make it clear
that we will cooperate with any long-term strategy to contain terrorism but
it is not interested in US vendetta.
