Justice
Some thoughts, this second week of our trials and tribulations.

'I want justice' - George W. Bush, Sep 17, 2001 (cnn.com)

"I say, bomb the hell out of them. If there's collateral damage, so be it.
They certainly found our civilians to be expendable." - Sen. Zell Miller,
D-Ga. - Sep 13, 2001

Justice?

I.
An attack on civilization
and our freedom - innocence
and naivete dead - so in this new
world where 'the rules have changed',
will bombs now do the job, salvage
humanity ..and revenge wash away
the screams of the dieing?

The darkness we seek elsewhere
is often within ourselves.

II.
Morbid fascination that makes
the media show us the same clip
over and over again?

III.
Even as the clouds of dusk and smoke
settle - we declare in unison:
"We are the masters of war
- our war machines revved up
in unity" - the rhetoric loud
and clear, the depths of our
umbrage and pain clouding
our senses.

Will we be able to see
clearly again?

IV.
Howard Zinn writes, "Not violence,
but healing, not vengeance
but compassion". Guess it only applies
to the doctors, fire-fighters, policemen,
and words on a poetry board. Real life
plays itself out through rhetoric.

Retaliation, Revenge, Resentment
the three R's for the day.

V.
Parting thought for the day -

War and terrorism .. two sides
of the same coin?
