[nukkad] i can taak enlish - i can waak enlish

Ordering a man to write a poem is like commanding a pregnant woman
to give birth to a red-headed child. -Carl Sandburg, poet and
biographer (1878-1967)

samiraji wrote,
<<Ultimately... what is more important?... communication with fellow human
beings or being "nationalists" ?>>

on a lighter note pretty much unrelated to the debate between hindi n the
dravidian tongues here is my latest experience.
i had been given this extremely irksome task of calling up each n every
mobile operator in the world and getting to know the customer service and
voicemail numbers.
day in n day out for 4 working days i strived, battling with people with
various accents ,styles and culture to get my message across.it was a round
the earth trip though on the phone. initially what i thought would be a
dreary and dumb task turned out to be rpetty interesting as i felt nice
about communicating with so many fellow humans scattered all across our dear
"third rock from the sun".
i had just about ended the task when i get samira's mail saying "english
unites most of the world".
well i have always maintained that though local languages should be made
medium of education n shuold be treated with respect(a thing that does not
happen here) i had always believed that we should learn english as second
language.
all my views were confirmed after this calling excercise.i just sat back and
thought at the end of it - - i called places all around the globe - -
orients,arabs,latin americans,europeans,africans - - but for the knowledge
of english all i was saying would have meant 2 penny gibberish to them. it
was english that united the two of us who were from completely different
cultures.it got my work done after all n i have to give it its due credit.
aint it surprising that the tongue of a people from a small island in the
atlantic now unites the world.
