At our construction sites workers do pooja to handtools and for the last 
hundred
years or so the mechanical equipment of all descriptions. This is very 
ancient
vaishya ( artisan sub-castes ) practice. It is known differently in 
different parts of
India. They do at my sites too. The vaishyas belonging to higher sub-caste 
of
merchants offer pooja for the well being of their wealth on Dhanteras day 
and to
their books of accounts ( chopada to Ravi ) on Diwali evening.
