There is no such city!" > > - Harshal =================================================================== Jerusalem is the anglicized version of old Hebrew ' Dar Ul Salaam ' , Dar meaning house and salaam meaning peace. Also Jerusalem became popular as late as only ninety years ago when the British defeated Ottoman Turks in the First WW. In Arabic too the city is called Dar Ul Salaam and it's meaning too is the same. Conjunction of two words is permitted in Arabic, very much like in Sanskrit and thus Dar Ul Salaam reduces to Dar ussalaam, the sound of L in Ul becoming redundant. When the Arabs captured the countries of the east coast of Africa, they founded another city by the same name which until today remains Dar-e-salam.
